Niagara Falls

We arrived at Niagara Falls Sunday afternoon, October 4. Since it was later in the day, we decided to drive the short distance to Lake Ontario and Fort Niagara.  The fort had just closed for visitors when we arrived so we could not tour it. This is as close as we could get.

We enjoyed the area and viewed the replica of the Old Fort Niagara Lighthouse.

We could view the Toronto skyline from the shore of Lake Ontario.

We then drove over to the Thirty Mile Point Lighthouse at Golden Hill State Park.

Monday, we spent several hours touring the US side of Niagara Falls. We started off with the Maid of the Mist boat tour.  It took us very close to the falls.

They furnished us with ponchos to help keep us dry.  We still got a little wet, but it was fun.
This is a picture of the boat we were on with a different group.

The falls are beautiful.  It was a cloudy day and the pictures didn't show the true beauty.

Here's a view from the observation tower.

Monday evening we watched the illimination of the falls for a while.  It was beautiful, but we were tired and did not stay until it was completely dark.

Tuesday morning we drove over to Canada to view the falls from that side.

They gave us ponchos again to view the falls at a close range on the Canadian side.  We drove around while in Canada and saw part of Fort Erie. We also drove down to view the gardens.  It was a wonderful 2 days spent at Niagara Falls.
